Introduction
WaFine connects your own WhatsApp number to a REST API, an MCP endpoint and paced auto-replies.
WaFine is a hosted service that turns a WhatsApp number you already own into something your software and your AI assistant can use. You link the number once by scanning a QR code, then call it from scripts, apps or Claude.
WaFine is open-core and built on OpenWA, an unofficial WhatsApp client. It is not affiliated with, authorized by or endorsed by WhatsApp or Meta. Read Using WhatsApp before you link a number.
What you get
- A linked WhatsApp session. One session per account, tied to the number you were invited with.
- A REST API. Send messages and read your chats over HTTPS with a personal API key.
- API keys you control. Up to five active keys, each limited to your own session, revocable at any time.
- An MCP endpoint. Let Claude, or any MCP client, read chats and send messages on your behalf.
- Paced auto-replies. Simple built-in rules that answer known contacts with a human-like delay.
How it works
- You request an invite. Access is invite-only while the service is in early release.
- You sign up with the WhatsApp number that was invited.
- You link that number by scanning a QR code from WhatsApp on your phone.
- You create an API key and start calling the API, or connect Claude.
WaFine keeps the WhatsApp session running on its server, so your phone does not need to stay online for the API to work.
Where your data lives
- Account data, keys and message records: a Postgres database in the EU (Paris).
- Media files: stored privately in the EU and shown only to you when you are signed in.
- The WhatsApp session itself: WaFine's server in Morocco.
See the FAQ for more detail.
